Cloris La Rue’s writings are purposed to empower the spirit as well as encourage, enlighten and inspire people to become better in recognizing the significance of remaining true to one's self.

Raised in the small town of West Columbia, Texas, Ms. La Rue’ was privileged enough to witness life in its simplest form where most of the residents were related in some way and everyone seemed to know one another. One of the many advantages of being raised in a small town is that it taught Cloris "good old" southern hospitality values and the importance of unconditional love.

No longer defined by the perception of what others believe she should be; but only defined by what God has ordained her to be. She embraces her kinky roots and caramel skin realizing that she has been birthed to awaken her generation to not only understand the importance of connecting with inner self but more so to learn one's purpose for living.  She has come to learn that although many women are broken and defined by their circumstances, the act of "overcoming" will unveil many layers allowing the light of one's spirit to shine through as one excels through the process of evolution.
Cloris La Rue’ has always had the gift of inspiring people whether it was inspiring her children or girlfriends to live up to their fullest potential or inspiring thousands through her blog.  In 2009, Cloris stepped out on faith releasing her debut literary work, HERSTORY: You are not defined by your circumstances…you are better because of them.  Since its debut, HERSTORY has sold out on amazon.com.  Since she became a published author, she has indulged in writing short stories and is currently in the process of writing her first stage play.  The former licensed cosmetologist and fitness trainer is a highly sought after motivational speaker due to her ability to encourage, empower and give H.O.P.E. (Help Other People Evolve). HERSTORY can be found in the hands of many people nationwide. It is often shared by women around the world as they encourage, uplift and inspire one another.

Ms.La Rue's quotes have been featured on many websites including that of JET Magazine where she shared her definition of beauty in 50 words or less. You can also find her face on essence.com.  She has been asked to speak among many women’s groups including the 2010 D.I.V.A.S. (Divinely Inspired Victoriously Anointed Sistah’s) women’s conference in Bay City and was featured as one of a few Houston area authors at a Local Authors Day Event in Houston Texas.  She has performed at one of the largest renowned Natural Hair Show’s in Houston where she modeled for Dinji Boutique and shared her original poetry. Cloris has been a featured poet at Daiquirita’s Bar & Lounge which opened the door to opportunities to sing intros for a fellow sister of poetry.  She has also performed in the Tyler Perry’s for Colored Girls poetry competition, Black Girls Rock Da’ Mic in Beaumont, TX; and most recently DIVAS night at Cafe 4212 in Houston, TX.  Cloris  La Rue’ continues to thrive,  pursue and fulfill her lifelong dreams as she lives and adheres to the philosophy of "As you THINK…So shall you BECOME!"
